What is the "Gun Lobby"?

In this section we look at the member organizations, the industry (comprising the manufacturers and distributors) and publications that work together to sell the guns. Since the most active and visible of these groups is the NRA, especially since the "Cincinnati Revolt" of 1977, we devote the greatest effort to that organization but we also look at some of the other major players and their "contributions."

Answering the Gun Lobby

Freedom of speech is important. It permits the free and open airing of ideas. Unfortunately, it also allows the repetition of non-truths which, when unchallenged, take on a familiarity that gives them the patina of truth.

In this section, we challenge many of the specific claims and arguments. (Note that some of these challenges are repeated elsewhere (eg, "History and the Law" and "Crime and Guns").
